AB1279 CLINICAL FEATURES AND FUNCTIONAL OUTCOME OF SURGICALLY TREATED TUBERCULOUS AND BRUCELLAR SPONDYLODISCITIS IN TUNISIA

Background Tuberculous and brucellar spondylodiscitis are still a frequent condition in the Mediterranean countries [1]. Management of may require surgical procedures case spinal cord or root compression, bone destructions deformities, unsuccessful medical treatment large abscesses. Objectives To study characteristics outcome surgically treated tuberculous spondylodiscitis. Methods Medical records patients who presented to physical therapy rehabilitation ward outpatient clinics after spine surgery for were retrospectively studied. The included from January 2010 December 2022. Results Thirty-two diagnosed with which they underwent surgery. Mean age diagnosis was 44,6 ± 10.4 years. sex ratio 1:1. Atypical presentations caused be delayed 37,5% patients. Back pain most symptom seen 78,12% cases, radicular 46,7% fever abnormal gait 68,7% cases. Tuberculosis 71,8% cases infection 28,1% On biology, elevated inflammatory markers noted Intradermal reaction tuberculosis positive 11 while cultures allowed 1 patient. Wright serology test confirmed all 9 Vertebral biopsy intraoperative samples remaining Cervical location involved 9,3% lumbar 43,75% dorsal 34,3% All have been prescribed antibiotics immobilization. Surgery indicated 71.8% decompression 28.1% voluminous abcesses. Anterior approach used posterior 90.6% 37.5% benifited concomitantly fusion Post-operative complications reported They consisted instability 71,4% abcesses 14,28% emergence secondary articular localizations 28,57% 25% second mainly stabalize spine. Before surgery, walking impossible 68,7 % 12 months only couldn’t walk. Conclusion Spinal spondylitis if is insufficient especially occurrence neurological complications. invasive various but sometimes it could option treat deficit.
